1) SAU's international program welcomes students from all around the globe - At Southern Arkansas University, the international program has draw students from all over the globe. There are 174 international students enrolled at the university, from 31 different countries. However; these numbers are lower this year due to COVID-19. According to international students, they are drawn to SAU because of the variety of programs that are offered. SAU also offers an International Student Mentorship Program to help the students adjust to living in a new environment. (Magnolia Banner News).
2) Arkansas man pleads guilty to FBI threats - An Arkansas man is currently serving time in state prison after pleading guilty Monday in a Little Rock federal courtroom for threatening to assault and kill an FBI agent and an FBI employee earlier this year. Clayton M. Jackson, 34, was indicted on June 4th in connection with threats made on January 30th, March 3rd, and March 17th. Jackson referred to the threats he made as a "promise" and had an extensive plan to kill the FBI agent he had threatened. (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
3) Little Rock police searching for missing teen - According to police, Owen Booth was last seen in Little Rock on Thursday, October 29th. He is described to have blonde hair and blue eyes with a weight of 148 pounds and a height of 5-foot-7-inches. Anyone with information on Owen's whereabouts is to contact the Little Rock Police Department. (KATV News)
4) Rhode Island health system halts hospital visits as the COVID outbreak worsens - As Rhode Island's hospitalizations, cases, and positivity testing rate continue to rise, the state's largest health care system, Lifespan, has halted visitation in its hospitals. There are exceptions to the rule that went into effect on Monday, which included that the Hasbro Children's Hospital allows one parent to visit at a time, and Newport Hospital's maternity ward, which allows one birthing partner per patient. Also, one adult may accompany a patient in the emergency department, however; the adult's visiting time will be limited. (ABC News).
5) Humpback whale overturns 2 kayakers off California coast - Julie McSorely and her Kayaking partner, Liz Cottriel, were watching whales off the coast of Avila Beach when a humpback whale overturned their kayak. They originally thought they were at a safe distance of 30 feet from the whales, they soon found out that they were not. The whale breached the water's surface and knocked over the kayak, with the two inside. Both women went into the water, fearing that the whale would land on them. The two were rescued by other paddleboarders and kayakers. (Fox News)
6) Kentucky police commissioner resigns after a report on training slideshow with Hitler quotes - After a report surfaced that the department used a training slideshow that included quotes from Adolf Hitler, the Kentucky State police commissioner resigned. The slide show was used as recently as 2013 and advocated for violence during altercations and instructed cadets to be "ruthless in their actions." The slide show was titled "The Warrior Mindset" and a slide with the title "Violence of Action" included quotes from Adolf Hitler's, Mein Kampf. According to the Manuel Red Eye Report, Hitler was the most quoted historical figure in the presentation. (CBS News).
7) Vienna shooting: Austria hunts suspects after "Islamist terror" attack - After a multiple gun attack in the capital Vienna that killed four people, people were urged to stay indoors by police while they located the suspects. A gunman was shot dead by police and identified as a 20-year-old 'islamist terrorist." After gunmen opened fire at 6 locations in the city center on Monday, two men and two women died. There were 22 people wounded. (BBC News).
8) Halloween stabbing attack in Quebec City leaves two dead - A 24-year-old man dressed in medieval garb was arrested after using a sword to go on a rampage. The man conducted a series of stabbings that left 2 people dead and 5 others wounded. The attacker was identified as Carl Girourgard, who came from a suburb Northwest of Montreal. Girourgard was charged with two accounts of first-degree murder and five accounts of attempted murder. (The New York Times).
9) Florida and Missouri brawl at halftime, ejections follow - Three players were ejected during a brawl between Flordia and Missouri football players when punches were thrown as the players were on their way to the locker room at half time during Saturday Night's game. Linebacker, Antuan Powell, and defensive lineman, Zachary Carter, were ejected for Florida, while Missouri linebacker Tre Williams was also disqualified. The fight was fueled by a previous play that included Florida quarterback Kyle Trask taking a hit from defensive lineman Drajan Jeffcoat. (Sports Illustrated).
10) Britney Spears says she's the 'happiest I've ever been in my life' in new Instagram video - After comments on her social media regarding her health and safety, Britney Spears posted a video claiming to be the 'happiest I've ever been in my life.' The comments were referring to Spear's recent Instagram posts. Fans claimed that Spears was looking unhealthy and seemed to be wearing the same shirt in multiple photos. Also, recent news regarding her conservatorship has fans worried about the singer, however; Spears has claimed to be okay and healthy. (People Magazine).
11) Meghan Markle is the first modern royal to be voting in a U.S. presidential election - The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is encouraging people to vote, claiming that she will be voting herself. This will make Meghan the first modern royal to vote in a U.S. presidential election. Meghan stated, "we vote to honor those who came before us and to protect those who will come after us." (Entertainment Tonight).
12) '#ElectionNight' is trending on Twitter - '#ElectionNight' is trending on Twitter as people predict who will win the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Many people are using the hashtag to urge people to vote, as well as to make statements about the current candidates. People are also using the hashtag to spread information about the election, such as when the next president will be announced. (Twitter)
13) Women allegedly posed as a prosecutor, dropped charges against herself - According to a review by the New Hamshire Union Leader, Lisa Landon, of Littleton, used the state's electronic system to drop drug and stalking charges filed against her and submitted fake documents in three separate criminal cases last year. Landon was caught when the forensic examiner noticed that her charges were dropped before she performed a competency evaluation on her. Landon now faces six accounts of falsifying physical evidence and one charge of false personation. (Fox News).
14) You aren't ready for this soccer-playing moose - In Homer, Alaska, a moose wandered onto a soccer field and showed bystanders how to play. A video was taken of the moose kicking a soccer ball around and somehow kicking it towards the goal. Cheers and laughs can be heard for the moose in the video. (The Huffington Post)

15) UK thief who sold stolen penguins on Facebook sent to prison - Bradley Tomes, a former birdkeeper, was sentenced to 32 months in prison after stealing a pair of penguins from a British zoo and selling them on Facebook. He was arrested after an animal collector bought the penguins and contacted a veterinarian about the bird's poor health. The animal collector also reported the incident to the police, even though Tomes begged to refund the money. Tomes was arrested at the collector's house when he was returning the funds used to buy the penguins. Tomes denied having committed the crime, however; after a substantial amount of evidence was shown against him, he pleaded guilty. (U.S. News and World Report).
